YOU ARE THE GIFT (By Delores Gempel Lekowski)

You are a survivor and you have the badge of courage to prove it

You are indeed unique, and you have a lot ot offer. You are a strong person. You care about important things. You have an insight into others hurt and pain. Yes, you have challenges. That is life. Without challenges none of us would achive greatness or success. You might have bigger onstacles to overcome but, overcome you will. One of your biggest challenges is how you perceive yourself, not how other people perceive you, but how you think they perceive you.

When you think of yourself as being flawed look beyound your wrapping. Did you ever get a present that the wrapping was torn and not wrapped very nicely, but when you opened the gift you were dilighted because inside was the most beautiful present you have ever received. It isn't the wrapping you cared about or remembered. It was the gift.

SURVIVORS ARE THE GIFT, NOT THE WRAPPINGS!

YOU ARE THE GIFT.

Burning Flesh

My Personal Experience.....and A Guide For Surviving

BURNED....NOW WHAT? By Bill Soulsby

We are "Survivors," not "Victims." It is difficult to live through the indescribable pain of being burned, dead flesh being scraped off your body on a daily basis, the numerous surgeries and skin grafts that follow; not to mention, the scars and disfigurement that may remain. However, as each day goes by, it does get a little easier to handle the pain, anger, physical and emotional scars that will be with a burn Survivor indefinitely, if not forever.

Many Survivors will have massive scarring, amputed limbs, and various other medical problems to deal with for the rest of their lives. They also have to endure the countless stares and cruel comments of children and adults alike, as well as being unwelcomed or even ostracized at public events and/or gatherings.

After the initial pain and shock begins to subside, many Survivors begin to think about "why?" or "how?" was I able to survive. I, along with many others, believe God has a purpose for our survival. My book gives a brief account of my own journey thru a burning hell, as well as a self-help guide and support system for Survivors and their families and friends. I have also included personal stories and thoughts of other burn Survivors who replied to a survey I dissiminated via the internet. Their stories are a touching and poignant revelation of their horrendous ordeals, thoughts and feelings of being a "Survivor."
